Signs that it is time to replace your old PC

We will help you identify the signs that indicate that your computer is on the old side and that you should probably buy a new one.

Technology develops rapidly. Every year we see new devices which are more powerful, smarter and faster. This also happens with computers, but unlike the case with your smartphone, it is not feasible for you to change your PC every year, in fact, many people use the same one for a long time without any problems. However, there comes a time when your machine is simply not up to the task. We will help you to see when it is time to replace your old computer with a new one.

Whether you are a gamer or a professional who works in the world of design, you will always need a computer that works properly with the latest applications and games.

First of all, everything depends on each user, their needs and their budget. For instance, somebody who only uses their PC for browsing the Internet and reading the news, will not feel that their machine is less powerful with the passage of time, because the programmes that are installed still run well and therefore, they can use their computer a few years longer. It is not the same for someone who works with video-editing or designer software, because an old computer will just not enable the newer versions of these programmes to work as well as they did two or three years previously.

You cannot install the latest operating system

Windows 10 came out halfway through this year, and all the users of this operating system were allowed to upgrade without having to pay anything extra. This fact, coupled with the great positive changes that the system offers, has led many users to choose to install it. It is the same with OS X, which always provides a free update to those who have an Apple computer.

This is all very well and good until you realise that the specifications of your hardware are not sufficient to install the latest update. In many cases you could try to install the new version of the operating system, and it may work, but not properly – it will probably have errors and its performance will be slow.

You cannot use the latest applications and games

So, whether you are a gamer or a professional who works in the world of design, you will always need a computer that works properly with the latest applications and games. Therefore, if you are trying to install the latest version of Photoshop or the latest GTA and your computer no longer has enough RAM, processor, or video card capacity, it is time to upgrade your hardware components, if you have a desktop computer, or otherwise, to replace your laptop.

Everything works slowly

There are certain ways to realize when everything is taking too long for your computer. For instance, if, when you turn it on, you have time to have a coffee and brush your teeth, it is taking too long to start the system. Of course, this problem may occur because you have malware, but in many cases it is because your computer is very old.

If, when you use the browser and other applications at the same time, the system crashes or takes too long to change between one window and another, it may be that your PC can no longer keep running.

We will help you to see when it is time to replace your old computer with a new one.

You do not have enough space

As time passes, the storage space occupied by your files and applications increases, and you will need more disk space to store everything. Of course, this can happen in many cases because you have many files saved on your hard drive, and it would therefore have nothing to do with the fact that you have an old computer. However, in many cases it is because you have a very small hard drive, which was more than enough five years ago, but which nowadays is almost nothing.

It makes a lot of noise

When you have just bought a computer you will notice that it does not make any sound at all. It is almost completely silent. This changes as time passes: you can hear the sound the hard drive makes (if you use one) when you are looking for information, or you can hear the fans trying to reduce the temperature of the processor. It is like when your car has a new sound which it did not have before. Computers that are beginning to get noisy are telling you that there is something wrong.
