Calling startups! Try this brilliant, rock-solid cloud platform

I wrote awhile back about Telefonica’s Instant Servers cloud solution. Our IaaS is powering some very interesting applications in EMEA, like PagoComoConduzco (an insurance product that uses in-car measurements of driving habits to set policy prices).

The goal is to fund innovation to boost companies and their new digital services around the world, especially in regions such as Latin America which are not the main focus of risk capital.

Instant Servers has already built a special relationship with Wayra, Telefónica Digital’s global network of startup accelerators. In that relationship, we offer Wayra startups free premium cloud computing capacity for up to two years. We’ve had some amazing success stories with the program, including Cognicor and Mirubee, both of which migrated to Instant Servers after successful test periods and are big fans of our Joyent-powered IaaS infrastructure.

Now we are launching a similar program to benefit startups in Telefónica Digital’s second startup and venture capital network, Amerigo. We are excited to now offer Amerigo-funded companies a significant (25%) discount on all cloud computing services running on our Instant Servers IaaS platform.

Telefónica has launched Amerigo funds in four countries (Spain, Brazil, Chile and Colombia). Each fund is autonomously managed by an independent expert manager. The goal is to fund innovation to boost companies and their new digital services around the world, especially in regions such as Latin America which are not the main focus of risk capital.

Amerigo focuses on technology companies in the growth and expansion stage. These are later stage, more mature companies. They tend to have established revenue streams and greater infrastructure needs and require enterprise cloud capabilities, such as robust SLAs.

This offer includes not only compute but data bases (MongoDB, MySQL and more), storage and backup, and other capabilities that eliminate the need for companies to purchase physical hardware. We’re about to add a new Object Store, as well, that is compatible with Amazon’s S3 offering.

While we encourage innovation with this arrangement, we like to deliver innovation ourselves, too. The Instant Servers product team, in conjunction with the talented engineers within our research & development function, have added some novel functionality to our cloud platform. Our automated VPN deployment allows our customers to quickly set up their own VPNs without contacting us or changing a line of code. They can simple do it using our dashboard. This is something you won’t find in other major public clouds. It’s important, too, because security in the cloud is very, very important and we aim to give you the best security of any major IaaS provider. If you are an Amerigo startup, then, that top-grade security comes with a nice discount.

To summarize all of this, at Telefonica Digital we back innovation. That can be delivered through the provision of high-performance cloud services to Telefonica’s incubated and venture-backed companies or by building rock-solid cloud security that is easy to use and does not exist in other clouds.

Stay tuned for more innovation coming from our cloud and stay laser-focused on the future. And if you are an Amerigo startup, drop us a line. We want to put you in our cloud. You won’t regret it.
